Public Open House Scheduled to Review Plans for the Bergland
Dock Boating Access Site |
April 7, 2008 - Press Release
An open house is scheduled for 3:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April
22, to allow the public to review draft design plans for
improvements to the Bergland Dock Boating Access Site on
Lake Gogebic in the village of Bergland in Ontonagon County.
The open house will take place at the Bergland Township Hall
at 101 Pine St. in Bergland.
The DNR is inviting the public to provide input on the
planned improvements to the Bergland Dock Boating Access
Site. Individuals can visit the office anytime during the
open house to ask questions and discuss the project with DNR
Parks and Recreation staff.
Michigan is one of the nation's leaders in registered
watercraft, approaching nearly 1 million. Boaters enjoy more
than 11,000 inland lakes, 36,000 miles of rivers and
streams, and 3,000 miles of freshwater shoreline -- more
than any other state. This project is supported through the
Michigan State Waterways Fund, which is comprised of
revenues received from boat registrations, marine fuel taxes
and user fees. These revenues are dedicated by state law to
be used for the benefit of recreational boating.
Individuals attending this meeting are requested to refrain
from using heavily scented personal care products in order
to enhance accessibility for everyone. Persons with
disabilities needing accommodations for the meeting should
contact Jordan Byelich at (517) 241-1533 a minimum of five
business days before the meeting. Requests made less than
five business days before events may not be accommodated.
The DNR is committed to the conservation, protection,
management, use and enjoyment of the state's natural
resources
for current and future generations.
