Red Devils Find Gold at U.P. Finals

May 31, 2008 Kingsford Michigan

The U.P. Track and Field Finals took place at Kingsford High School and the Ironwood Red Devils took home the gold in Division 2 Boys competition. Ironwood finished first with 101 points. Ishpeming was second with 75 points followed by Westwood scoring 66 points.
In individual boy's events Bryant Gottschalk tied Jordon Thomas for fourth and fifth place in High Jump at 5'04" In the Long Jump Ironwood's Cory Torni won the event with a jump of 19'08.50"Ironwood Pole Vaulted Ryan Grenberg finished fourth with a vault of 11".00" and teammate Roy Auvinen finished sixth clearing 10'06".

MIke McPherson. Alan Peterson, John Jacisin and Dominac Beckman finished first in the 3200 Meter Relay with a time of 8:27.42
Ryan Granberg came home third in the 110 M High Hurdles with a time of 16.7

Cory Torni, Tyler Muzzy, Lnadon Barto and Jacob Sim came in fifth in the 800 Meter Relay with a time of 1:36.29.

Ironwood's Alan Peterson won the 1600 Meter run with a record time of 4:34.59 teammates Dominc Beckman finished second , his time was 4:34.78 and John Jacisin finished sixth in the same event with a time of 4:53.03.

In the 400 Meter Relay Red Devil's Andrew Erickson, Cori Torni, Tyler Muzzy and Landon Barto
finished third with a time of 46.07.

Ironwood's Jacob Sim finished sixth in the 400 Meter Dash. His time was 55.06. Teammate Sam Krohn finished sixth in the 300 Meter Hurdles (45.87)

In the 800 Meter Run Dominic Beckman finished first (2:02.78) and Alan Peterson snatched second place (2:04.97)

In the 3200 Meter Run the Red Devils Alan Peterson took first plce (10:06.78), John Jacisim came in third (10:30.06) and MIke McPherson finished fifth ((10:34.57)

The Ironwood 1600 M Relay Team Jacob Sim, Tyler Muzzy, Rob Erspamer and Dominic Beckman
Finish in fifth place with a time of 3:34.48
 
The Red Devil Girl's Team Finished sixth overall with 47 points. St. Ignace finished first with a total of 89 points.
In individual efforts;

Abby Moore finished second in the High Jump (4'10")
Ashley Ludke finished second in the pole vault event (8'0")

The Red Devil Girl's 3200 meter team also place second with a time of 10:52.59 (Emily Kesky, Kari Strand, Lindsey Chiantello and Erika Peterson)

Jasmyn Gianuzzio finished sixth in the 100 Meter Dash (14:31)

Jasmyn Gianuzzio, Marissa Muzzy, Sandi POlamaki and Tara Tregembo Finished fifth in the 400 Meter Relay (56.37)

Abby Moore finished third in the 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 54.07.

Erika Peterson finished second in the 800 Meter Run ((2:37.62)

Chantel Spear, Kari Syrand, Veronica Cannon and Erika Peterson finished fifth in the 1600 Meter Relay (4:38.10)
 
In Division 3 Boys events, Ontonagon finished 8th with 24 points and Bessemer finished 10th with 19 points.

Ontonagon's MIke Shimaus finished third in the High Jump (5'08") he was followed by Bessemer's James Now in fourth place (5'08")

Speedboy Pat Hampston won the Pole Vault event at (11'06")

Bessemer's 800 Meter Relay Team; Pat Hampston, Aaron Holtz, Logan Dahlbacka and Ray Wheeler finished fifth with a time of 1:39.96

Pat Hampston, Aaron Holtz, Logan Dahlbacka and Brandon Helmer finished sixth in the 400 Meter Relay (48.46)

Ontonagon's Mike Schamaus finished second in the 300 Meter Hurdle event (42.57) Mike also won the 200 Meter Dash with a winning time of 24.05

 
In Division3 GirlsBessemer finished tenth with 24 points and Ontonagon finished twelfth with 14.5 points and Watersmeet finished seventeenth with 8 points

In the Pole Vault Event, Emily Bushie won the event with a vault of 9' 01"and Kaisa Blake of Ontonagon finished fifth in the same event at &'00"

Sarah Ahnen of Bessemer finished fifth in the 100 Meter Dash (13.70)

Ontonagon's 800 Meter Relay team; Chelsea Pollard, Alena Roberts, Janele Linna and Nicole Parker finished second with a time of 1:58.12

The Ontonagon 400 Meter Team Chelsea Pollard, Taylor Cleary, Meredith Cleary and Nicle Parker finished fifth . (56.18)

Sarah Ahnen of Bessemer finished fourth in the 400 Meter Dash (1:05.59), Sarah also finished fourth in the 200 Meter Dash (28:43)

Janele Linna of Ontonagon  finished fifth in the 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 54:37
