Alumni Exhibit At Finlandia Gallery

HANCOCK - The Finlandia University International School of Art and Design is currently exhibiting the work of the school’s Alumni. The twenty two of the schools graduates are exhibiting their works, which include many different mediums including ceramic design, installation art, fashion design, painting, drawing, and art made from recycled materials.

The exhibit opened in February and will be opened until March 24th. This is a great opportunity to see the wonderful art resulting from the IASD program. The exhibit is opened at a time when students at other learning institutions are on spring break and have the time to enjoy the work of their peers.

The exhibit will be opened during Fusionfest which takes place march 20th.

Slide Show

There were eighteen alumni at the opening reception, which included Denise Vanderville, an Alumni and now Dean of the ISAD

Opening remarks were made by Carrie Flaspohler who introduced the eighteen artist. Carrie was followed by Phyllis Fredendall who gave a brief history of the school.
The program began in 1996 with eighteen students. The first MFA class graduated in the year 2000 was made up of four students. This year the school will be graduating its eleventh class. In the 11 years since the bachelor of fine arts (BFA) degree program began at Finlandia University, 87 students have graduated in five concentration areas: Ceramic Design, Fiber Arts/Fashion Design, Interdisciplinary Design, Graphic Design, and Studio Arts.
