Finlandia Ceramics Major Awarded

Tony Velonis Memorial Scholarship

 

HANCOCK, MI – August 6, 2009

Finlandia University Ceramic Arts Senior Jaimianne Amicucci, Mahopac Falls, New York, has been awarded the 2009 Tony Velonis Memorial Scholarship by the Society of Glass and Ceramic Decorators (SGCDpro), a professional network of decorators and marketers of glass, ceramic, and related products.

The Velonis Scholarship, named for a past president of SGDCpro, is open to undergraduate and graduate students in a glass, ceramic, or related curriculum. Amicucci’s experience in ceramic design, along with her academic standing, financial need, and plans for future study all contributed to her selection for the scholarship.

Past recipients of the scholarship include students attending University of Florida, Georgia State University, Rutgers University, and George Washington University.

Amicucci Exhibit
Open at Reflection Gallery

An exhibit of work by Finlandia University junior ceramics major Jaimianne Amicucci is featured at the Reflection Gallery through August 15, 2009.

Amicucci, from Mahopac Falls, New York, says the exhibit as inspired by the larger questions, meanings, and answers in life.

The Finlandia University Reflection Gallery is open Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. It is located on the second level of Finlandia’s Juitila Center Campus, 200 Michigan St., Hancock.
