Commission Record Breaker

Ironwood - January 12, 2010

Last night the City of Ironwood also held its first meeting of the year. Not to be out done by their peers, the City Commissioners, concluded their business in a record setting time of twenty minutes.

The only notable thing accomplished at the meeting was to approve a resolution supporting Orvana’s Copperwood project. Other than that the group spent the night applauding themselves on the success of this past weekend’s Ski Marathon. Which was a great success all things considered. The City Staff and City workers did a great job in preparing the streets, aid stations and parking areas for the event.

While some twits were complaining about the use use of city facilities for the event, those with positive attitudes were helping to create the city’s success. We’ve been told that local businesses saw an up tick in business this weekend. We hope that is more fact than hype.

IronwoodInfo reporters made a tour of Ironwood at 2:00 am Saturday morning (or Friday night depending on your lifestyle). We can state emphatically, that the motel’s in town were basically empty, with a couple of exceptions. The Indianhead Motel had a fair amount of cars present. The motels with the highest occupancies were the AmericInn Inn and the Comfort Inn. Both motels were packed with snowmobilers, not skiers. So where did all those marathoners sleep? HMMMM!
