| Ironwood - July 19, 2009 Festival Ironwood concluded Sunday after four fun filled days at
the Depot. As usual, there was something to please everyone, in spite
of the bad weather. Lots of events for kids. On the Thursday there was
the Teddy Bear Picnic, hosted by the Carnegie Library. There was the
world's largest duck pond which was continuously busy. Amusements,
face paintings, a sawdust scramble and other events kept the kids
busy. The child registration program was again made available for
          parents.
The Festival actually started Wednesday evening. It began with "An
Evening of Bluegrass" with music by Up North Connection. The event was
sponsored by the Ironwood- Hurley Rotary Club.

The music continued throughout the weekend. Following the opening
ceremonies performed by American Legion Post #5, there was live music
provided by Richie Yurkovich & Polkamania. The event was free to the
public and was sponsored by "Friends of the Festival". The teens took
over the dance floor later that evening. A teen dance sponsored by
McKevitt Patrick Funeral Home featured DJ Music by Magnum
          Entertainment.

Friday offered a Kids Activity Day along with a Pie and Ice Cream
Social. Music once again played an important role in the day's
entertainment. A "North Country Dance" from 4:00pm to 11:00pm. The
evenings music began with the very talented, Mike Keating. While Mike
sings classic country, his voice and style can please any listener or
dancer. We really enjoyed his performance.

When Mike packed up the old Guitar and laptop computer, Johnny Trash
to over the evenings entertainment. We know the name is catchy but, it
doesn't reflect John's great talent. Johnny Trash is a terrific
entertainer Festival goers got to enjoy this act for free.

Saturday was a big day In addition to the large Arts & Crafts show
several events were taking place away from the Depot. Back at the
depot the was strawberry shortcake to die for. The Strawberry Social
was sponsored by Ironwood Business and Professional Women.

Hope had a booth where you could buy fundraising items. Better yet
they had dogs and kittens available for immediate adoption. Some furry
little kitten were on hand as was a great young male Huskie named
"Glacier" . Anyone thinking abut adopting a dog or cat now is the
time! Glacier is a beautiful ten month male who was to be neutered
Monday, like it or not! This is a truly lovable, healthy dog who will
be a great companion for some lucky person. Go visit him at the
H.O.P.E. shelter in the Industrial park. It's you lucky day.

Saturday was another great day for music. The morning began with the
"Ranch Boys" providing some more wonderful country music for dancing
the day away. The Ranch Boys were followed by a concert by the "Gogebic
Range Concert Band". Although the band was missing a few of their
musicians they still provided some wonderful music for the large
audience gathered under the Big Tent! Once again this wonderful band
provided it's audience with a great concert. Amazingly, the tent
provided excellent accustics for the band's music.

When the GRCB concert ended the young ladies from the Ironwood Dance
Company entertained for the audience. The girls offered up a variety
of dance routines. They were very, very good.

The afternoon concluded under the tent, with a Karaoke talent contest.

The Klassic Kruiser's "Classic Car Parade took place through downtown
Ironwood to Hurley. Keeping with the Classic Car theme, a 50's - 60's
Dance under the tent. Music for the four hour dance was provided by
Diamond Jim and the Red Hots. The dance did have a small admission
charge, however, the music was well worth the $4.

Sunday's highlight was the Old Depot Auto Show. Approximately 50 cars
were displayed, plus several dispaly cars owned by the members of the
Klassic Kruisers. Some great looking cars were entered in the show.
IronwoodInfo will be providing complete photo coverage of the event in
          tommorrows edition.

Also occurring Sunday was Kid's Woodchip Scramble. Under the tent
providing the afternoon's entertainment was Dorothy & the Boys,
          another wonderful musical group
