LaborFest Car
Show a Big Draw |
 |
Ontonagon - September 6, 2009 It has been
one year ago today that the horrific fire
destroyed many buildings in downtown Ontonagon.
But yesterday the empty space was barely noticed
by the hundreds of visitors viewing the great cars
that made up this year's car show. As usual there
were many, many terrific cars in the show for all
to see and enjoy.
The owner's of nearly eighty cars brought their
classic cars to the Ontonagon LaborFest Car Show.
Cars from six Michigan and four Wisconsin counties
were represented in this year's show. Les Thieme
from Sturgiss, Michigan drove 550 miles to enter
the show and as a result won a gas card for the
further traveled award.

But in the end, all eyes were focused on the
People's Choice entry. This year that would be the
amazing 1938 Chevrolet Panel Truck owned by Rick
Tippett from Ironwood, Michigan. Rick took home
the 2009 "Best of Show Trophy" for awesome truck.
Rick also won a first place trophy for his car in
class.

 |
Rick has been winning lots of trophies since
his car made it's first showing. It is without a
doubt "special" .
The beautiful paint on the Chevy was laid down by
Riverside Auto in Eagle River, Wisconsin and the
eye catching murals on the side panels are the
creation of Raven Auto in Champion, Michigan.

The appeal of Rick's Chevy doesn't stop on the
outside. Inside, included in the beautiful custom
interior is a Home Theatre, including stereo, a
large screen TV and two DVD players where you can
watch a slide show of Rick's ground up
restoration. Restoration is hardly the word for
this great custom vehicle.
Congatulations Rick! |
