The Snowflake Aquatics held their Fabulous Fall Tri '09 - Saturday, in the Lindquist Center Parking Lot. The event included an approximate 3 mile run, a 12 mile road bike course and a 500 yard pool swim. The run and bike events took competitors throughout the township countryside, meandering their way back to the Lindquist Center. After the arduous 12 mile bike ride the contestants began their 10 lap swim in the pool. The combination of events found many of the challengers severely cramped.

The race was certainly exciting. The men's division was a close, nip and tuck challenge between Doug Foley and Girard Lauzon, each leading after individual events. Foley led after the run by one minute and thirty seconds. However, Doug would be behind Lauzon by a full five minutes after the bike course. Doug picked up three minutes and twenty seconds once they hit the water.

But in the end, it was Girard's  large lead gathered after the bike race, that made the the difference. Doug did have spectators biting their fingernails as he seriously challanged Girard. Foley's great effort in the pool  just wasn't quite enough and Girard emerged as the winner.

The overall  winner in the men's division was Girad Lauzon. Doug Foley finnished second and David Hagelin finished third.

In the Women's Division, the winner was Marie Peasley, followed by Amber Oja in second place and in third palce was Jessie Dick.

The Tri Athalon is a real challenge to you body. Some might say a Challenge to your mind and spirit, but I think not. The competition is exciting and everyone I watched compete were in high spirit through it all.

The three events are certainly an equalizer. Each person I spoke with told me that they were strong in one event and not so strong in others. Fortunately, If you think that you would like to compete next time, you are allowed to form a team. In doing so, you can find others to join you in those event or events that you might not do well competing in.

There were overall winners  in both the individual and team competitions, individual age group and relays . The complete results are shown under the slideshow.

There was an awards ceremony and a pasta feed  after the conclusion of the race.
