Downtown Pocket Park The city of Ironwood has started the Holiday Season with the annual Christmas Tree lighting ceremony at the downtown pocket park, and preparing for the Jack Frost Parade. People began gathering before 4 p.m., getting into the spirit with hot apple cider being served by city manager Scott Erickson. Mrs. Schroeder’s Accent Choir started of the festivities , entering singing Christmas songs and providing the setup for the introduction of the night’s guest speaker. Mayor Burchell welcomed Bill Johnson to the audience. Johnson entertained with poems and humor. The lighting of the Christmas tree was coordinated afterwards and a group gathering for photos around the lit tree and the Accent Choir performed additional songs for the evening. This year's Christmas tree was decorated by downtown businessmen Bill Penrose and RickTippett. The Jack Frost Festival continues with the Jack Frost Parade on Friday, December 4th. This year's parade theme is Jack Frost's Crystal Anniversary. The parade starts at at 6:00 p.m. beginning at the Carnegie Library on Aurora Street and continuing through downtown Ironwood |
