Fundraiser
For Olympiad Students |

A Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser
Sunday at the
St. Sebastian School Gym. Bessemer and Wakefield Boy Scouts
from Troop 337 co-sponsored the Pancake
Breakfast with the
2009 Bessemer Area Schools Science Olympiad
participants. The proceeds from the pancake
breakfast will help to purchase proper materials
necessary to construct a wide variety of science
related projects such
as balsa wood bridges and rubber band propelled
airplanes. |

Bessemer Olympiad Instructor, Dave Rowe is
explaining the exhibit to Arvo Toolanen.
Mr. Rowe was on hand to show the science
exhibits and answer any other questions posed regarding
the Science Olympiad. Dave as you may know also
serves as coach for the Bessemer Whiz Kids. |

The Science Olympiad competition is at Northern
Michigan University on February 14, 2009. There
are 36 Bessemer students who will be testing
their knowledge and skills in areas of
engineering, physics, biology, chemistry, earth
science and forensics. |

Many people who came to support the Science
Olympiad and Bessemer scouts . There were large
numbers of diners present all morning. The
Scouts and Science usually taking on different
challenges, faced the challenge of feeding a
large contingent of supporters who came to the
five hour fundraiser. As always they
all did a great job including the littlest of
the work force. |
