I.V.F.D. Donates Defibrillator

Ironwood - February 19, 2009

The Ironwood Area School District was recipient of new Automatic External Defibrillator. The  AED, as it's commonly called was donated to the school district by Ironwood Volunteer Fire Department. The defibrillator was acquired by Chief Ken Jacobson from the Pfizer Corporation .

A  Defibrillator is a device for arresting fibrillation of the atrial or ventricular muscles of the heart.

According to Tim Kolesar, the entire school staff  have been trained how to use the device by the Red Cross.  Tim acknowledging his appreciation of the donation also expressed hope that it would never be needed.

Jordan is  also ,the vice president of the IVFD and one of the department's three trustees. Jordan is also a volunteer in Township's  department.
