Firefighter One Class at Wakefield Firehouse

Wakefield - February 21, 2009

Wednesday evening nine young men and women met for the eighth time to take study for their fireman one designation. These candidates are Gogebic's future fire fighting force. From the questions and answers which arose during the class it's good to know that in the furure Gogebic residents will be in competent hands.

Wednesday's class forcible entry. Safe forcible entry to be exact. The students spent the evening learning about all the equipment available to forcibly break into a building  and also how to get out safely.
The course is being taught by Curtis Van Dusen who is a probationary instructor. Curtis is being evaluated so that he might become a "Certified Instructor". The person evaluating Curtis is County Training Coordinator, Richard Caudill. Curtis is doing a great job instructing this class and is bound to get his certifacation. He will become the county's 6th Certified Instructor.
After the instructional part of the class was over, Curtis took the students on an inspection of Wakefield's trucks.
There was an opportunity for everyone to handle te equipment and observe how the equipment was properly stored
