Trout Creek - June 6, 2009 It might be hard to believe that
such a small rural community is capable of producing great art shows
year after year.
But, as if by magic, the recreation room at Trinity Lutheran Church
was once again turned into an Art Gallery exhibiting many wonderful
works of art.
The Trout Creek Library recently sponsored the Eighth Annual Trout
Creek Art Show which was held at the Trinity Lutheran Church in
Trout Creek. One has to wonder how a community as small as Trout
Creek can produce an art show of this size an caliber. The shows
success is a result of of the efforts of five committee ladies; Joy
Ibsen, Judy Bruno , Betty Hamilton, Karen Milszeski and June Treptow
and of course, the thirty plus artists who exhibited their art work.
Once again, there were many visitors on hand to view the diversity
of art work on display at the show.
Over the past eight years the show has steadily grown to the point
where photography had to be eliminated from the art show and is now
presented at the separate, but equally good Photography Exhibit
produced each fall.
This year each artist brought up to 3 pieces of artwork for the
general display plus an optional piece for the special theme portion
of the show. This year This year's theme for the special gallery was
“Art and Poetry.” Art work that was inspired by a particular poem or
line(s) from a poem.
In addition to the displayed art, there was a “Walk-About” where the
artists present talked about their work. There were artist
demonstrations such as the one by Ruth Morris pictured above.
There was once again a progressive painting where artists and
viewers added to a progressive painting throughout the day (See the
progressive painting photos below)
Diversity of media, subject matter and style were evident throughout
the exhibit which featured nature scenes, still lifes, western
scenes, fantasy pieces, flowers, and avant guard modern art.
Everything from painting and photography to woodcarvings, sculpture,
art jewelry and even quilts were represented.
