Wakefield-Marenisco 2009 Spring Concert

Wakefield - May 20, 2009

The Wakefield- Marenisco School presented its annual "Spring Concert"  Monday evening. The concert showcased the great improvement of the school's bands under the direction of Ms. Louann K. Ditmyer.

Under Ms. Ditmyer's tutorage, the school music students have shown great sight-reading improvement at the Music Ensemble/Solo competitions.

The planning, practice and execution all came together in a concert that certainly pleased its audience. The bands are small as W-M  is a small school. To the credit of Ms. Ditmyer, the bands were presented as one large group as opposed to several smaller bands. To the credit of the school board and the administration W-M still has a music program. To both their credit, the music program is on the rise!

The 7-12th grade band had a total of 19 musicians. The 6th grade band II had a total of 16  musicians and the 5th grade band I has a total of 32 musicians. There is also a "Festival Band" which is a combination of players from 6th to 12th grade.

The 5th graders did a terrific job and provided a great deal of encouragement for next years 5th grade students.
