            | Bessemer - May 30, 2009
Thursday morning Washington School fourth graders ventured
outdoors to plant flowers in front of their school building. Mrs.
Beal's students had been scheduled to do the planting Wednesday,
however cold and wet weather required a rescheduling.

Earlier this spring the students planted Marigold seeds in their
classroom and have since that time watered and nurtured the
seedlings until ready for transplanting. Each year the Washington
students work under the guidance of the Range Master Gardeners for
this project and the Sophie Street Projects. The Sophie street
project is done by the Washington School fifth graders and will be
            completed net week.

Thursday's planting was done under the tutorage of Gordon Frase a
Michigan Master Gardener and a Charter Member of the Range Master
            Gardeners.
