| Ironwood - June 11, 2009 To the pleasure of those
gathered in Longyear Park the Gogebic Range Concert  Band
opened its 2009 summer season Tuesday evening. The local concert
band opened the season playing  Rossini's "William Tell
Overture" . The band under the direction of Larry Gabka
performed quite a variety of music, including Reid Marches such as
Double Diamond and a wonderful Medley of Beatle songs.  Band
member, Clarence Jacobs, did the announcing , keeping the audience
in touch with the selections being played. The weather might have been more inviting, however, it didn't
keep away the crowd. Many families and individuals of all age groups
gathered on the grass to enjoy the music.. While it was Tuesday
evening, it seemed as though  it was a delightful Mid-America
"Sunday in the Park".   We're lucky to have so many talented individuals on the range to
keep us entertained, and equally lucky to have a great environment
in which we can be entertained. In the event that you were unable to
enjoy this week's concert there is still lots of summer a head with
several more great concert nights planned for us all. The
Regional Hospice along with The Gogebic Range Band will hold the
annual Memory Garden dedication, June 23, 6:30 p.m., at Longyear
Park in Ironwood. The public is invited to attend. The ceremony
includes reading of the names for whom flowers have been purchased.
(more info) On August 11th at 7:00 pm, we will experience a real treat. The
Gogebic Range Concert Band in conjunction with the Klassic Kruisers,
will host a 50's and 60's night at the park. We've been told the
it's common for audience members to get up and dance. Several other enjoyable evenings of music are scheduled for July
28th (7:00 pm) and August 25th, also at 7:00 pm. So, don't sit bored

            of music.     |
