Old Victoria Village Hosts Fundraiser

ROCKLAND - The Old Victoria Craft Fair was held Sunday on the grounds of the historical village. The fair is the annual fundraiser for the historical site and draws large crowds that come to see the restored cabins, purchase crafts, enjoy the food and listen to the music.

The volunteers provide entertainment for the youngest visitors as well. The kids participate in lawn games and activities that don’t require Nintendos and/or Sony Play Stations. It is always interesting to see how kids can have a “GREAT TIME” without expensive toys.
Pictured a team race where at the starting line the kids  saturate their sponges with water, then race  to the jar across the lawn where they attempt to fill an awaiting jar. First team to fill the jar wins.

The craft sales are a major attraction for the adults. There many vendors offering a wide variety of arts and crafts for sale.

This was the 28th year for the craft sale. While it is the crafts that draws the visitors, it is the Historic buildings that are the big hit. Old Victoria is a historical restoration of an 1800’s Mining Village.

Lynette Webber, pictured above, is one of several volunteers that provide tours of the village. During the summer months the village is open seven days a week. Lynette told us that there as many as fifty visitors a day that tour the residences and buildings. More information can be found at http://www.coppercountry.com/OldVictoria.php.
