Wakefield 5th Annual Marathon

WAKEFIELD - Saturday 26 runners competed and ran in the 5th Annual 1st National Bank of Wakefield Marathon.

There were 19 men and a relay team of five women. There was a single entrant in the wheelchair division and one single female runner. This year’s 26 registrations were an increase over the 19 runners entered in 2009.

The 26.2 mile marathon takes place at Wakefield’s beautiful Sunday Lake. Runners must circle the lakeside course 9.5 times. The course is the paved bike and walking path around the lake.

There were aid stations and restrooms available to the runners every 1.4 miles.

All of the finishing contestants received a t-shirt and awards made by a local artist.
