Ontonagon Lights Up Winter Sky

ONTONAGON - The annual Ontonagon Home Town Christmas celebration continued Saturday evening. What might have appeared to be a starry night was in fact the Christmas Fireworks show that took place along the river at Marina Park. It was a great fireworks show produced by Morin Fireworks.

Other outdoor activities include hayrides sponsored by Norman Pestka that took place around downtown. Bus tours of area homes and outdoor lighting. Peterson Cottages sponsored the tour and reimbursed On-Tran for the ridership. As usual the home lighting tour was a big success and departing riders said that they had a great time.

Slide Show

Inside where it was a bit warmer and dryer, the annual pouring of the lead took place at the Ontonagon County Historical Museum. Visitors from all over the U.P. gathered to have their fortunes told by what could best be described as Tea Leave Reading – Finnish Style.
While waiting for your future to be poured into a vat, you could enjoy refreshments and wonderful seasonal music provided by The Bruce Johanson Trio.

Later in the evening was the annual Snowball Dance at Eagles Hall with music by Borderline.

The annual winter festival concludes tonight with a parade on main street and a visit from Santa at the Fire Hall.
