Top News of the Week

Ladies Set to Host Fourth Straight GLIAC Tourney
The women's basketball team will host its fourth straight GLIAC Tournament this week. The Huskies face Tiffin in a quarterfinal game Wednesday, March 2. With a win, Tech would host the GLIAC Final Four Saturday and Sunday, March 5-6. The Huskies have hosted each of the last three GLIAC Final Fours, winning the championship twice.

Hockey Closes Regular Season This Weekend
The hockey team will close out the WCHA regular season with a pair of home games against North Dakota. The Huskies' two seniors, Bennett Royer and Deron Cousens, will be honored with an on-ice presentation following Saturday's game. The pair will also be the featured speakers at Friday's Blue Line Club Luncheon.

Men's Basketball Enters Postseason on Hot Streak
The men's basketball team won both of its games last week to wrap up the regular season with five straight wins. The Huskies received the No. 6 seed in the GLIAC Tournament and will travel to No. 3-seeded Grand Valley State Wednesday, March 2, for quarterfinal game. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m.

Two Skiers Earn Trips to NCAA Nationals
Mikko Harju and Malin Eriksson will each represent Michigan Tech at the 2011 NCAA Skiing Championships, March 9-12, in Stowe, Vt. It will be the first trip to the NCAA Championships for both skiers. Harju earned first-team All-CCSA honors this season after finishing as the top skier for the men's team in eight out of the 10 races he competed in this season. Eriksson was a second-team all-CCSA selection and won the 15-kilometer classic race at the CCSA Championship (Feb. 13).

Men's Tennis Opens 2011 Campaign
The men's tennis team opened its 2011 schedule with a 9-0 win at Ripon last Friday (Feb. 25). The Huskies have 17 matches on their regular season schedule before the GLIAC Tournament, April 15-17.

Grand Raffle Drawing Wednesday
The drawing for Michigan Tech's annual Grand Raffle will take place Wednesday, with the 15 winners to be announced on WKMJ Mix 93.5 FM radio between 7 and 8 a.m. The grand prize for Michigan Tech's grand raffle is $10,000.
