2009 Ontonagon LaborFest Parade

Ontonagon - September 7, 2009

Unlike last Labor Day, the day would be a peaceful and quiet one. Quiet except for the sounds of the great bands and floats in the 2009 Labor Day parade.

In 2008, just hours after the horrific early morning fire which destroyed 7 buildings with other buildings severely damaged by smoke and water the 51st Annual Ontonagon Labor Festival continued with the scheduled parade

A year later, the village has put the area back together.

LaborFest Car Show a Big Draw

Ontonagon - September 6, 2009

It has been one year ago today that the horrific fire destroyed many buildings in downtown Ontonagon. But yesterday the empty space was barely noticed by the hundreds of visitors viewing the great cars that made up this year's car show. As usual there were many, many terrific cars in the show for all to see and enjoy.

The owner's of nearly eighty cars brought their classic cars to the Ontonagon LaborFest Car Show. Cars from six Michigan and four Wisconsin counties were represented in this year's show. Les Thieme from Sturgiss, Michigan drove 550 miles to enter the show and as a result won a gas card for the further traveled award.
