vehicle was
being driven
by a lease

Neither the

an
unidentified
female
passenger in
the truck
were injured
in the
incident.
Fortunately,

also escaped
injury.
There
were several

scene.
Wakefield

other things happening as well.
There was a great deal of
entertainment including music by
John Keating, (always a treat),
rides, games and amusements for kids
of every age. There was a flea
market including arts and crafts for
sale.
The Klassic Kruisers were on hand

Council Meeting - a Real Yawner |
 |
Ironwood - September 15, 2009 Last evenings city council meeting
was not much more than a yawner, as can
be seen by councilman Burchell pictured
above. The only exceptions were some
condemnations of blighted property and
Burchell who once again used his pulpit
for political posturing with respects to
the granola bar war with the ATV and
Snomobile riders.. We will be covering
the latter in an IronwoodInfo editorial.
The council finally voted to condemn
properties that have been offending
taxpayers for decades. When asked by
Steve Frank why they addressed the issue
now, he was reminded that the city had
just recieved a significant grant for
that purpose. The real question should
have been why hasn't the city done
something about these properties long
ago! They were blighted properties when
this writer moved to Ironwood more than
two decades ago. One has to ask,
why do we think we can afford to repair
a dilapidated library building for
$2,000,000. and not afford to spend a
few thousand dollars cleaning up the
many, many blighted homes and
storefronts defacing our city.
More to follow on Burchell's
politicalization of the council meeting. |
